An exceptional left hand drive example that has clearly been restored to a very high standard It is great in all areas with super paint and panel fit, lovely detail everywhere and a correct, immaculate underside in body colour. This 2.2E is numbers matching and finished in the original shade of Light Ivory with black interior ? the only modification being a pair of lovely RS Lightweight sears trimmed in black with period correct contrasting black and white houndstooth cloth centres.
The car was originally supplied to Porsche North America as detailed in the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity on file. This further notes a production completion date of April 1970 although the original maintenance book still with the car shows it to have been supplied to its first owner, a Mr Pier Laskey, on the 31st March 1971. Maintenance was initially completed by Audi Porsche dealer, Vasek Polak, in California.
Registration documentation on file indicates that the Porsche remained in California with just a couple of owners for many years before its purchase by a Dutch Porsche enthusiast in the early part of this century. The car was enjoyed in its original state for several years once in Holland and was very well maintained as detailed in several significant invoices on file. However, in 2011 a new owner embarked upon a total restoration using the finest Dutch Porsche specialists. This is fully detailed in a great number of invoices on file together with a CD illustrating the work completed. Every aspect of the car was addressed, the emphasis being to retain as many original parts as possible whilst returning the car to absolutely Porsche correct as new order.
The restoration lasted for several years and shortly after completion the car was sold to the UK and offered for sale by the highly regarded Porsche specialists Paragon, from whom the last owner purchased the Porsche, in October 2015.
The car has been used carefully in fine weather following purchase and hence remains in superb order in all respects. A good recent drive showed that the restoration was not just skin deep for it performed beautifully, with the legendary 911 tightness of feel and fluency that is so often lost in a mediocre rebuild.
