1968 Ford Mustang 390 Fastback Full Bullitt Replica

This is an original San Jose built Mustang S Code 390 big block four speed manual Top Loader Fastback. It is in the most superb condition throughout with correct detail having been fully sorted by England's leading marque expert.

The car was fully restored to a very high standard in the U.S for a member of the rock group Black Sabbath. The car was bought, several years ago, from this owner by a private English collector who spent many years waiting to find the right Mustang. This car was chosen for its superb condition and correct original specification, having been built in '68 and featuring the big block and 4-speed manual box with Hurst shifter it is as close as one can get to the example immortalised in the film Bullitt.

Following purchase the car was taken to Mustang guru Roy at The Mustang Shop in Hampshire for a full evaluation. As the extensive invoicing in the history file illustrates, every aspect found wanting by Roy was attended to. In addition a great deal of time and money was spent sorting the car with a number of accepted subtle upgrades as recommended.

This work included:

Full custom leather interior to exact original spec, complete with Sport seat conversion. Cabin fully lined with Dynamat sound insulation

GT Flowmaster exhaust system.

High torque starter motor

Custom Audio sound stereo system with speaker upgrade, electric aerial, iPod connector. This system looks authentic but features very high quality modern componentry

Complete new Painless wiring loom fitted with hidden current protector all disguised with original cloth wrapped wiring.

Power rack and pinion steering conversion

Custom tilt steering column

McCloud clutch kit

Upgraded suspension with Koni shock absorbers.

Following this work the fastidious owner enjoyed the car in dry summer conditions and returned it as required to the Mustang Shop for maintenance. In 2013 we purchased the Mustang and it very quickly found a new home with a regular client who has a fine eye for detail as his small private collection of finely honed cars proves. He has continued to enjoy the Mustang on fine days and returned the car to the Mustang Shop for a checkover and full service. Any area found wanting was addressed, work included a new updated Flowmaster exhaust system, replacement of the Holley carb and new updated anti-roll bars and bushes.?

Today the car remains in outstanding condition in all respects with exceptional detailing. On the road it quickly becomes clear how well set up the Mustang is, tackling fast A roads with a fluency and tautness not always expected of American cars. The history file details the work completed with invoices amounting to almost £30,000.
