2000 Caterham R500 Superlight

This is an original factory supplied full specification R500 Superlight finished in Mango, it comes with factory weather equipment including windscreen. The car is in superb condition throughout and has been maintained and developed to a very high standard, work includes a full Evo spec engine rebuild by Dave Adams at HWR. This exciting little Caterham has covered 18,000 miles and comes with all original books and an extensive service history.

The car was first supplied in September 2000 to a Mr Ward based in Earls Barton. He retained the car for three years covering some 2,500 miles before selling it back to Caterham. During his ownership, the car was serviced by the factory.

In 2003 Caterham offered the car for sale again and quickly found a buyer who was upgrading to the R 500 from his more pedestrian Caterham model. The buyer, a Mr Lloyd, kept the car for a few years and covered very few miles before selling it in 2006 to fellow enthusiast Mr Trueman. The car was serviced in April 2005 at the factory, the mileage at this point being just 3,186 miles, only 800 miles more than at the previous service in August 2003!

Mr Trueman enjoyed the car for a couple of years and covered some 6,000 miles in this period. During his ownership the car was very diligently maintained as documented by the many invoices on file for this period.

In September 2007 the car was bought by a Mr Moffett, based near Newcastle. Clearly a Caterham enthusiast, Mr Moffett dedicated much time and expenditure on the R500 to ensure that it was the best possible example. A great number of invoices on file detail the work completed including many component upgrades.

In July 2011 the car was purchased by a good customer of Hairpin to join his own collection. At this point the car was in super condition with just 15,500 miles recorded. Following purchase the car was dispatched to the well-respected HWR Motorsports for a full engine rebuild to Evo specification by the highly regarded Dave Adam.
Since then the car has seen minimal use in dry summer weather whilst always being carefully garaged in a dry dehumidified environment. This must be one of the finest R500 Superlights developed and maintained without regard to cost. It has covered just 18,000 miles and is in superb original condition throughout. It comes with all books in the correct wallet, weather equipment, and an extensive history file including many invoices and MOT certificates.
